What is Trichomoniasis vaginalis (TV)?

Trichomoniasis is a common, treatable sexually transmitted infection (STI) that is caused by Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) infection. Trichomoniasis may or may not always present symptoms and may include:

  • genital itching
  • burning
  • redness
  • soreness
  • discomfort while urinating
  • unusual discharge (clear, white, yellowish, or greenish; thin or increased volume) 

Trichomoniasis, if detected, may be treated with antibiotics.
