What is Gonorrhea (NG)?

Gonorrhea (NG) is a common, treatable sexually transmitted infection (STI) that can cause infection in the genitals, rectum, and throat. Some people with gonorrhea do not have any symptoms, and mild symptoms may be mistaken for a bladder or vaginal infection. Symptoms of gonorrhea may include:

• Discharge
• Rectal itching
• Soreness
• Bleeding
• Painful bowel movements

Untreated gonorrhea can lead to life-threatening symptoms and may cause infertility in both men and women. If you are sexually active, regular sexual wellness testing will promote your overall health. 

Gonorrhea, if detected, may be treated with antibiotics.
